Pioneer 505 & 202

I just inherited 2 metal detectors; Pioneer 202 and Pioneer 505. I was told they were bought at Walmart in 2007 and they were the same as Bounty Hunter Models; Quick Draw II and Sharp Shooter II respectively. Can someone share some knowledge about this. Thanks Pat

I actually have the same question. I'm new like you, and I also got the pioneer 202 as a Christmas gift from Wall-Mart. (It said intermediate level on it). I then ordered the Bounty Hunter Quick draw for my wife. When we received it, it was identical to the 202, but said it was an advanced model!

hello pat and todd, the bh 202 and 505 are good intermediate machines. i own a pioneer 202, but was not satisfied with the depth i was getting, so i bought the magnum 10" coil for it. it was like night and day. i have found a bunch of good stuff with it too. even though in the past bounty hunter was villified as a second rate machine, that is not the case nowadays. their capabilities and low cost make them attractive to a lot of people. i have personally given whites, minelabs, garretts, and fishers a serious run for the money with the pioneer 202. a couple of them got a real spanking that day, and it wasn't me. the 505, i believe, is a stepped up version of the 202, with more advanced circuitry. so, if you decide to use them to hunt with, then it's all good. if not, sell them both and buy another. hh,
