pinpointing???

have spent a lot of time practicing with my new XS and been out in the field but am having a great deal of difficulty pinpointing, am finding a lot of good stuff, i.e. one barber dime and 4 tokens in two hours, but everytime I try to pinpoint I get signals all over the place. I got out my old Lobo and pinpointed with ease. what am I doing wrong.

really important nothing is under the coil when going into pinpoint mode.. I lift the coil off the ground a few inches to the side of the target and hit it, then move it back over the target,, should be able to pinpoint most deeper stuff with the disc mode alone. just by using the X method, or bringing the coil back towards you while swepping the target till it disappears on shallower targets.. the target should be right under the tip of the coil

I solved both the crazy falsing and the pinpointing problems by Taking off the Standard 10" Minelab coil. and putting on the SunRay 8" coil. What a difference!! I absolutely love it!
I have felt right along that the 10" coil was the problem with the Explorer XS. I don't believe that you lose depth with an 8" coil. I found a King Geo. II copper at 10"deep. I was very happy with that.

thanks, I will file your info for future ref, and If i can find some different coils, I will try them, I hear there is a mfg in Las Vegas, coiltrec or something like that that has some interesting info. thanks again Ken

The Stealth X-8 made a substantial difference, & now with the X-1 Probe the 10.5" isn't a factor either!

I also had lots of trouble pinpointing with the 10 and got the SR 8 and pinpointed fine. I just went back to 10 and now have no problem with pinpointing and don't understand why I had problem in first place, now getting over silver is the problem. <IMG SRC="/forums/images/smile.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=":)"> HH
