Pinpointing

Both the co and Fe numbers change when I use pinpoint. Is that normal? They seem to jump around. Even the depth reading changes. I have been trusting the detect screen more than the pinpoint screen. Thanks for your thoughts.

When in pinpoint you have to stay on the center of the target you also have to sweep past the target so the machine can reset and give accurate id of target .
My # stay the same if I am centered on the target but very if I don't swing the same as I did before. sube

Depth reading is more accurate (although typically the same) when in pinpoint.

I typically don't use the PP, I use the wiggle back method from two directions. On the big 17" I tight wiggle where the center line of the coil seems to be right over where I think the target is and slide the coil back while wiggling the coil. When I stop hearing the tone, the object is right in the V at the top of the coil. As far as depth readings, again I listen to the tone. If it is a double tone when I swing fast over the target it is on or near the surface. The only time I have to use PP is when the target is small (like dime size or smaller) and very deep, 10" or deeper.

Thanks for these pinpointing tips on the 17. I just got one to supplement my stock coil. I've found that I've had a hard time adjusting to what it's telling me. Your tips will be very helpful. I'm curious about something... is a reset needed on the CTX when changing coils like on other machines? I'm thinking not b/c of how the could "pair" with the main unit. If I'm wrong, that explains why I'm having trouble. LOL!
