pinpointing?

unearth

Member
Hi all,
Having a bit of a problem pinpointing with the ctx standard coil and 17" coil. I usually run "normal" but have tried "sizing" Can't seem to get a good lock unless the target is less than 3" deep, which, seems to me, that I'm not getting a good fix on the target in the first place??? Any suggestions or tips?
Thanks in advance

Go to the top of the page where on that little u in the coil i have found is the most accurate way to pinpoint.Find the target as you back away from the target keep the little balls centered on the screen when the audio disappears go forward till you here audio now center the balls on the pinpoint screen and target well be in that little u .It's quicker and more accurate than trying to center in the middle of the coil. Plus you can see the ground where it's lying.sube

That's pretty interesting Sube. I know exactly where your talking about. For some reason, it seems different
coils have different sweet spots. Mine is right under the red Minelab sticker on the coil. But my hunting buddy
has been complaining about his pinpointing being off. I will recommend it to him and see if it works for him, and
I will try it as well. Thanks buddy, new little tricks are awesome.

Get yourself some cardboard, tape good and bad targets on them. Only 1 or 2 targets on each peice so it doesn't confuse you. Try to find some cleaner ground and scatter them out upside down. Great way to "practice" pinpointing.

I use the pinpoint button to get a general idea of where my target is, then wiggle the coil over it and pull back till it stops signal. Dig right in front of that. Pretty accurate. If you're digging in high trash it's hit or miss.

It seems to me that a target right under the coil is off. On the standard coil the deeper targets are right under the "N". Am i seeing this right?
