Pinpointing with the At Pro

Has anybody found this to be true or am I dreaming up something that is not there. By passing the At Pro coil over a target using the pinpoint button, if I get a short blip of sound the target is probably a good one and if it sings or is a longer sound when swinging the coil over the target it is probably some foil or some can slaw.

Yes pretty much if you think a good coin target the pinpoint should be fairly small. Close to the surface it will be a bit bigger of course. If big or wide it's usually can foil or iron some such.

Flattened foil can make a great sound. I usually look at the number reading. I am looking for 50s/80s and up. Low 70 that sound to good are poptops. I will use the iron descrimate button to verify. Then turn it off.

Nickels around 48 to 52
Dimes are high 70s
Quarters ore higher.
Older penny's are around 76 to 78
Zinc pennys seem to fall in the 70 to 76 range.
I forget where gold rings in it has been a while. Maybe someone can add info here lol.

Keep in mind things sound better closer to the surface. I usually try to pinpoint to the front point of the coil. I use the hand held pint pointer to locate. I use an imaginary line. From coil tip bacwards.

If I used that method of discrimination I would have walked away from both of these large silver's last month.
They both passed the test to make them aluminium cans by raising coil and not losing signal. However I've decided if it's a good vdi and doesn't sound throaty. I dig it.
