Pinpointing with Eclipse Shooter dd

I'm trying to get acquainted with my Eclipse Shooter dd coil (4x6) and am having inconsistent success pinpointing with it. I would appreciate any general useage wisdom (especially for pinpointing) that you all have learned.
Thanks,
Royce

Royce,
Dead center works for me.
X your target and work it until the lowest depth reading is acquired which is also the highest tone heard and dig accordingly.
The size of this coil also makes it easier to be accurate since there is less room for error.

You can pinpoint the old fashion way and the target will be right under the center. Some people have a hard time with it, unless they rotate themselves 90 degrees after doing one of the legs of the X.
Another way is to sweep side to side to locate the strongest response and then slide the coil towards you until the signal is lost. The target will be right of the point of the coil.

Pinpointing is my biggest frustration. I think I have discovered that keeping the gain high as I can stand clarifies some intermittent signals, but I would like to pinpoint as accurately as I do with the stock 950 coil.
Thanks,
Royce

All you have to do once you find the target is swing your coil side to side across the target until you find the strongest signal. Mark the spot visually. Now turn your body 90degrees and do the same thing again. Dig right in the center of the imaginary X. I use the 6x4 constantly. The direct center of the coil is the point where I find all my targets. I have never expereinced a problem using the pinpoint mode on the 6x4dd. However I do prefer the x pattern most of the time because it is quieter and quicker for me, though their are benefits of using the pinpoint mode including getting an aproximate depth, shape, and size of target.
