Pinpointing with a 9 inch 7.5 khz coil

I went out to a park today and found that after pinpointing a target it was not in the center of the coil as expected. I was finding coin 6+ inches deep at the back of the hole i had just dug. Where on the coil should I expect to find the pinpoint location ?

I always x the target. It should be in the center of the x. Or wiggle coil while pulling back it should be right in front of coil when you hear the last beep.

I used my 705 mainly with that coil and I found it super easy to pinpoint. The target is always right in the small half moon middle part when the detector indicates that full circle around the inner circle on the LCD display. Any concentric coils I have used were very accurate when it came to pin pointing whatever the detector.

Did you try on shallow targets ? Depth can throw the accuracy of pinpointing off somewhat.

It starts detecting a target at the edge of the inner circle on your coil and responds all the way thru the center. Test it by dropping a coin on the ground and watch where the coil starts responding.

Xing is very accurate too

I started with a Concentric coil many years ago, then got into DD coils when they came out. Now I feel like I am stepping back in time. I just need to get out and use it.
