What would happen if you were at a Civil War campsite and they just cleared tree's for a new construction project. There you were with your Explorer XS finding bullets here and there but some of the bullets are "very deep". So you swing your coil to and fro and get a very feint signal. You dig and dig and dig. Because the ground is the sticky, dark brown soil of VA- thicker than fudge- you spend time looking for the signal. You pull your coil out of the whole, turn on Minelabs "fantastic" pinpoint feature and begin to search the ...now "CRATER SIZED" whole. Because sage words of wisdom, "if the signal repeats in all directions it is either a good signal or a piece of iron." So the whole became bigger about half the size of a small fox whole. Needless to say since night was coming on fast, a good friend shows up with his trusty vintage machine. Knowing that I have been in the area do to the large size of the various "CRATER SIZED" whole's, my good friend did the smart thing. He rescanned my whole. Needless to say, I here this "hey Christian?" I pull the dirt covered earphones away from my ears and forehead and reply, "Yea- whad ya get?" I found a really nice shot gun minnie in your whole. Thanks alot! I replied "no-problem!" So.....the question is after two years of still learning this machine, and still spending $$ on it. HOW IN THE HECK do you pinpoint with this machine? I know some will suggest the X1 probe, well to be honest with you I would...but so far with the amount of $$ I have spent in purchasing accessories for this machine, I could have purchased another detector ($600.00) Seriously...So any humble suggestions would be appreciated. Please don't say buy the X-1 as that will blast my accessory items to over $800.00- Your assistance and knowledge would be greatly appreciated. My friend on the other hand would probably say in a silent tone to all of you..."Don't tell him anything...let him continue to dig those deep wholes so I can go behind him and find everything he is leaving behind. Sad but true....Thanks!
