Pinpointing w/ DD

I know two ways you can try,
first pinpoint one time then turn yourself 90 degrees and pinpoint again like a "x",
second the DD's detecting field is a line from front to back in the center of the coil you can pinpoint then move the coil back slowly until you start to lost the signal, this means the target will be right at the tip of the coil.
i have two DD, my 6x10 pinpoints on the center of the coil, so i don't use that 2 options i just press the trigger and when the VCO show me the strongest signal there is it right under the coil, but with my 1400 i have to pinpoint at the tip.

This is an easy way to pinpoint with the DD that is accurate. HH Dennis in Idaho

This is a good way of doing it, but it doesn't always work, at least with my 6x10 DD. Sometimes the signal drops out before the tip of the coil.

Does the depth make any difference?
For example, if the target is only one to three inches fine, but what if its deeper than that?
WIll your method still be accurate?

Hi guys, I don't know who designed the graph but I wish I did so could thank him. It showed me how to pinpoint with my DD coils. l got so tired of xing, then standing in another direction and xing again to pinpoint a target( maybe exaggerating a little but not much.) Since using this method I have never had a problem pinpointing a target the first time, although I must say it took some getting used to, but once I got it down it was smooth sailing. Yesterday I dug a dime at the old fair grounds that was a good 6 or 7" with my 6x10, so I know its accurate beyond 2 or 3 inches. This method has never failed to work for me. I can't imagine having to go back the xing. HH Dennis in Idaho
I just pinpoint like normal. The object will be under the letter "I". Forward of center. Close enough for me.
Hey what ever works. HH Dennis in Idaho

I've tried pin pointing and digging when the target is right over the eye but I don't always find the target. Your suggesting that I did when the target is at TIP of coil. Well, I'll be getting the Bullseye II soon so I guess I'll eventually get the pin poin down like I did with the Ace.

I had mine out again today for a little while and it seems to PP just in front of the mount, right in the center.
