Pinpointing Tips With The Garrett Pro Pointer:detecting:

The ability to detune your Garrett ProPointer is also good when you are searching for a small target near a large metal target item, say a metal pipe from a set of swings. If you detune the ProPointer, you can still pick up a small target such as a ring, without having the ProPointer sound off to the large pipe. An electronic Pulse Induction pin-pointer that sounds off on a ring sized target from 6+ inches is practically useless when working around playground equipment. If you actually need an electric pin pointer to find a target from the center of your searchcoil 6+ inches, you really need to practice your coil pinpointing abilities before using any electric pin-pointer.

Below is a link to the video on tips using the Garrett ProPointer.

I see you have the optional "CHIRP" feature to try out.
Is the chirp better than the buzz?
Loving your dedication to keeping us up to date and educated.

John, I always like your bird photos on your gear! :clapping:
Am I the only one that doesnt have a Garrett pinpointer yet? I've seen some great videos of them being deployed, and can appreciate their function...just do not have one yet!:sadwalk:

I see the youtube vids of guys using them on EVERY target...so far I've learned to hunt without one, but can appreciate their function, especially on chains down in the grass roots I'm thinking...maybe after my rich Uncle Sam gives me some money this Spring, I'll get one.

Some have referred to electronic pin-pointers as the crack cocaine of metal detectors and very addictive. I can't imagine hunting without one, unless water hunting. For sports fields, they really save a lot of time just popping those targets out of the ground in a very short time using only a screwdriver..

Thanks John also appreciate the photos with wildlife, it is one of my passions.
The pointer is a great tool, you can live without? YES! ... But it's bad life. I recently run out of battery in the middle of hunting pointer. The Number 2 battery was in the car :confused:and a bit away so continue without him. I found it hard, it was not inconvenient to get a ring 18k but I had to work more, rather more.
a greeting:cheers:

Great info...appreciate it! I just so happen to have one in the mail right now. Can't wait to try it out. Like Mud said, I am getting pretty good at pinpointing with the Pro, but I can also see how this new one will speed things up too.
Thanks again!
