pinpointing tips with 17" coil

Just picked up this coil and was seeking advice from those who use it. I'm looking for tips to isolate a target before cutting a plug. I'm missing the x more than I would like...

I use the wiggle method also but I do it from one way then turn 90 degrees and do it again then I switch to pin point using the front of the coil instead of the middle, it seems to work for me

Hello

I don't have my Notes to hand right now but, when I was trialling that coil it was a different 'ball-game' to pin point with.
Best way is to -
Get the signal
Push fwd to where it stops
Pull back to where it begins
Give it an inch or so and "wiggle", and it should form at the toe of the coil (front) and the heel (back)

I have never had that much trouble pinpointing with the 17". I personally never use the wiggle method. I simply pinpoint the target, turn 90 degrees, pinpoint again.

I don't use the wiggle either, but man, shotgun shell brass frequently seems to pinpoint wonky.. Coins, not so much..I wish I could ignore the brass but who knows what you could be missing if you did so at the older sites...

Thanks for the tips, going a little smoother now.. Still getting used to it but I didnt miss as many today, or at least by as far haha. Yielded a rosie 64 and an 1943 merc.
