Pinpointing start to produce constant sound. What it could be?

When I switch to pinpoint it works normally for the first approx 15 sec but after that my ExpII starts to produce constant sound even 1-2 feet over the ground. To stop this I go back to detect mode and then back again to pinpoint for next 15-20 sec. Do anybody have same problem? Thanks!

Yes, I had that problem and thought there was something wrong with
my unit... then read posts here that mentioned an automated
process within the pinpoint mode that "narrows" down on the target...
seems it is important to try to keep the pinpoint sweeps narrowed
as close to the intended target as possible (not pick up nearby
targets)... and.. NOT to raise the coil to a different height during
pinpoint.. keep the coil as close as possible to the same height
during the pinpoint procedure...

This has seemed to get me past this problem.. give it a try to
see if that helps... you can probably go back into the posts
and find the threads that talk about this.. and possibly some of
the experienced ones can confirm this..

When I was not following these procedures my unit would seem
to go whacko... and I would have to go back to detect before
returning to pinpoint mode... as I believe you had mentioned.

The pinpoint is just that as you use it to pinpoint, then back to disc. In pinpoint the threshold will go wild if you leave it in pinpoint, it will start getting louder the longer it is in pinpoint. The reason is if it is not seeing a target the threshold will try to climb trying to see a target.
