Pinpointing Shallow Popping Tool!

New member
I was at an Army Surplus Store looking for items for metal detecting.
I found a sheath for my digger a front pouch for finds and the tent
stake for popping coins. The stake is half round if it was a full tube it
would be one inch in diameter. This stake is approximately 10 inches
long. I haven't had a chance to hone this skill, popping coins that is but, I
know this will be an awesome tool for that purpose. My digger is about
twice this width and I can pop a coin with that digger that is a shallow
enough target.

Looks like you could easily attach a wood dowel or something for a comfortable grip too. Funny how we start seeing every day items as potential tools for our sport! I think my wife is still missing her wire mesh fry basket I used as a sandscoop for a while!

Yep! I've been eye balling some of the pvc fittings down at the shop for just that purpose
maybe this summer I'll need a sand scoop for vacation on the Cape.

I've used the popping tool briefly and it seconds as a real good scoop.
The fact that it is a half circle makes it good at retrieving the coin that
you just knocked into the hole. I'm still at the beginning stages of really
testing it out. I was looking for silver yesterday so most of my digs were
6 to 8 inches. I was only able to use the popping tool about four times. I
believe I was 50% I popped to coins and the other two I scooped up with
the same tool.
