Pinpointing question?

Hi guys,

Just got my Se Pro yesterday and we're getting along pretty good. I've read the manual
cover to cover twice and I also downloaded the "Emulator", which is a great tool for learning
to navigate the menu and a few sounds. One question I have is I've noticed that occasionally
in pinpoint if I stay there too long it seems to "hang up" with a solid tone, but I can disengage
and turn it back on and it seems to work fine. Has anyone else seen this? I think it happens
mainly over a big chunk of iron or metal.

If you raise your coil about a foot and a half over your intended target then turn on your pinpoint it should try to pick up that taget. Also, you should be able to size your target. You maybe be talking about your VCO getting louder... thats pretty common especially if you are uning an inline probe and take too much time finding the target.

Thanks Dewcon for the reply. Don't have a probe.
When I described the "hang up" for lack of a better term, I was
trying to say that when it does that I get a solid continous tone. I can put the coil anywhere,
over my head 10 feet in the air and nothing changes until I disengage pinpoint and start over.

Since I first posted I read in the manual, Pinpointing-pg 67 last paragraph that some what
describes the situation. It does'nt happen all the time, Just annoying. Thanks again

I've used both the XS and II and this will happen ,at times,on both.Re-pinpointing solves the problem.Just a little oddity with the Explorer.
