pinpointing problems

Question, has anyone had any experience with kellyco automax precision pinpointer. I got a freebie from kellyco when I bought my XS, tried it but it will sound for no reason after setting it. Is it junk, if so why is the X-1 better? I am still having trouble pinpointing with my XS.

Larry,
The X1 is a 1 inch coil that does the same as the main coil does, but can get in places the main coil cant and you know it is within the 1 inch of the probe when pinpointed. This probe will not have the depth of the main coil, but 3 to 4 inches, so on the deep ones you will have to pinpoint the best you can and dig a plug, then go in with the X1 and find the target.
Pinpointing isnt that bad once you get used to the Explorer and i can usaly be within a inch or 2 unless it is surface target then I have to raise the coil and pinpoint. I have been using the tip of the coil mostly and while swinging the coil back and forth over the target(just over the target so it is within a inch or so)I bring the coil back to me untill I lose the signal and I will know the target is right in front of the coil, so I will move the coil back towords the target and when I get it I know the targets will be right under the Minelab decal. To be sure I will visualize where it is and turn 90 degrees and try pinpointing from that direction and where the 2 point cross i will find the target.
