Pinpointing mastered!

I finally mastered the art of pinpointing thanks to Randy. After relying on the standard method by using the pinpointing button which yielded mixed results, then switching to the prospecting mode with even more mixed results, I decided to try a method that Randy had mentioned in his guide and in several prior posts. The method is to slowly back the coil from the target towards your feet. As soon as the signal disappears, the target is exactly under the front of the coil. I tried it today with amazing results. 100% of my targets were exactly in the plug as indicated. Now, I can even dig smaller plugs. Thanks again Randy

I just down loaded Randy's free book from minelab this week. I read the article about pin pointing that way. I'm glad it works, I can't wait to try it this week. When you back the coil towards your feet you said it's Right under the front of the coil or right under the front.

It's directly at the front tip of the coil. I hope it works as well for you as it does for me. Let me know

Thanks, Will do.

I bought one of the new 15" DD WOT coils that Coiltex makes for the X-Terra and I use this method for pinpointing. It works.

You're welcome. Glad you found the information helpful. But keep in mind that this technique is for DD coils. Concentric coils will not pinpoint in this manner. On concentrics, the target will be under a spot at or near the center of the coil. HH Randy
