pinpointing hard to pinpoint coins

sube

http://youtu.be/ySSmrc4-UXM For those that don't carry a pin pointer ( ME) this is how I pinpoint . This is why it's hard to pinpoint with a big coil stock and 17 on shallow and coins on edge .sube

Great video explanation of behavior I have seen including today but not understood before. I have had those double hits that would go silent at 90 degrees and given up on them. Now I understand how to try and sort them out.

Thanks

Me too!

Thanks Sube, good stuff!

Wow that explains allot of the strange hits. I usually turn sensitivity down to eliminate the double and triple hits so this should save lots of time.

Thanks Sube. We'll done video too! :clapping:

Good video that raised loads of questions for me and how I hunt. As soon as mine gets back from repairs, I've got some testing to do.... I typically water and wet sand hunt and use long tones.... I may have to go back to normal tones on the 2nd program so I can readily switch back and forth if the technique doesn't work the same in long tones.

Thanks for an eye opener

A lot of good info in that video thanks!

Sube...Great video. I had switched to the 6" coil because I was having such a hard time pinpointing with the 11". Your video made the light go off and I put the 11" back on. My last hunt I did not use my pinpointer, i used your information and I was spot on every dig with the target in the center of my plug every time. Thanks for the lesson.

Glad I could help , as for more videos you will have to wait till spring when ever that comes -22 below here this morning . The videos I will be showing will be working in iron , falsing , and how to run your detector at max to get all the depth you can. As a side note for people starting out and veterans what I like to do is take all the trash I find and scan it on a table in the winter or off season .This will give you more information than anyone can tell you .Just to see where it hits how stable the #s are and what target trace is doing after all you dug it this a good time to see why you dug it . So those that are lucky enough to be swinging good luck .I will just have to watch what your finding . sube

Great video... This opened my eyes to some of the digs I've made and the sound differences when sweeping them. Thanks.

If it is a very quiet deep clear signal, I'll target trace at different angles to keep from digging excessive holes.

Great video and something I have had issues with using the 3030. This applies to the beach as well as coins will sit any angle. When scooped they again can fall on edge allowing the retriever to miss the scoop.
Thanks for the video.BCNJ

Thank you for posting your very helpful video!!

Is this true for pretty much all larger DD coils? Or mainly for the 3030s? Would seem to make sense on how I was getting signals consistently side by side like that and end up finding the target a few inches to the side a few times.

Thanks for the video. I am gonna have to play around with mine a little more in the house and see how it reacts with different angles on the coin.
