Pinpointers - Need update

Idaho-Marke

New member
I read an old message about pinpointers and problems with the F-75.

I have a vibraprobe which the poster said didn't work very well with the F75.

How about an update. Did anyone find a work around for the vibraprobe yet and if not, what probes are working?

Anyone like the one they are shipping with the F75?

Thx. I'm soooo close to ordering one.

I'm using the F-Point that came with my F-75 and still using the Merlin SXL that I've had several years. I like the Merlin as it is only on when I press the momentary switch (and it has a LED that changes color, a buzzer and a vibration on a hit). The F-Point isn't bad, but you either have to leave it on or set the sensitivity each time you turn it on, as it's all on one knob (kind os a pain). I also tend to hit the edge of the home and detune it (the knob is in the front beside the probe).

The vibraprobe does "talk" to the F75. The last time out I ran the sens low on the F75 and it wasn't as bad. When you crank it up to get deep relics, you will hear the vibraprobe in the headphones. But....Don't let that stop you from getting the F75! There are all kinds of pinpointers out there but you will look a long time before you find something else like the F75.

My vibraprobe talks to my CZ-5. I just point the coil away from the hole, which effectively gives me about 4' of distance between the CZ-coil and the pinpointer. This seems to be the trick. I also notice that when I holster my Vibraprobe, and swing my CZ coil to my left side, I can still get crosstalk.

I think you can do the same thing with a F-75, just point the coil away from the hole.

Wanna trade probes? It's bearable if until you crank the sens up. Most of the trouble I have had was in a Yankee camp with the sens cranked! I just wish they would make a vibraprobe with a switch!
