PinpointerS & F75.........

Tony (NC)

New member
I know a lot of people don't use pinpointers, but I just flat out will not hunt without one. I love the vibraprobe, but that thing talks to the F-75 BAD! Has anyone else had this problem? Well, it's really not a "Problem".....the vibraprobe will just have to go! Is anyone using another pinpointer without all the talk? Thanks in advance.

I use the Uniprobe and have not had any problems. The probe has a switch that turns the sound to the detector off when the probe is turned on. Also, the probe can be adjusted to minimize any interference. I have not had any problem with it on any detector. Give them a call and see what they say. HH Don

one of those "white's bullseyes". I haven't had any crosstalk with it. I've got a Tinytec but haven't tried it with the 75 yet.

I may have to go back to the Bullseye and keep the Vibraprobe to use with the C$ (They are a pretty good team!) Is Whites still having problems with the switch going bad?

I've been using it pretty steady for 2 years now. It has one of the "toggle" type switches (push one way for temporary on, the other way for steady on, and off in the middle) I *think* the trouble ones were the push buttons, but I'm not sure. I noticed it looks like Fisher has one called the "f-point", but I don't know anything about them. It looks like a rotary type knob.. (would take a little getting used to)

You need a good pin pointer with the F-75 and I feel the Uniprobe with the headphones will solve 2 problems at once, a good set of Headphones and the best pin pointer made at this time for the F-75.

Hi,

I've got an MXT and the vibraprobe caused quite a chatter. Someone on the MXT forum suggested I point the MXT coil away from where I was using the probe and that helped a lot. Perhaps this will help you too.

I'm itching to buy an F-75 so I'm interested if this solution for my MXT will work for you also. Please let us know.

Also, anybody reading this, I need a water proof pointer. Vibraprobe is the only one I know of. Any others you can suggest that don't cost 1/2 the price of the MD?

Thx.

I got it to calm way down, but it can still be annoying. Pointing it away doesn't seem to help. I even tried all the frequency shifts. I wish the vibraprobe had a switch to cut it on and off. I'm not tossing it out yet. I'll keep working with it to see if I can come up with something I can live with. If not, I'll go back to the Bullseye. The F-75 is WICKED DEEP!

I have a Merlin SXL that I keep in a zip-loc baggie for waterproofness. Good for 1-1/2" to 2", and that works very well for me. Has an LED that changes color for a "hit" (and helps illuminate the hole while probing) and a beep.

I would think a pinpointer that reads more than 3" is not pinpointing. It's a second [and poor] detector.

the way the Vibraprobe takes a min. to shut itself down.....I'm sure Tony doesn't want to stop hunting a min. after every hole while he waits for the Vibraprobe to shut itself off. That's why he's looking for a probe with a switch. Bottom line is that the F75 has above average power that's for sure.....don't like shovels, or probes:) Heck it may be picking up my damn wrist watch or pocket change too!;)
Maybe Sunray will come out with an onboard probe.....

This is the new probe that is now on special with F75 purchases....
I have yet to see one myself....

I saw it on the fisherlab website

http://www.fisherlab.com/hobby/accessories.html

It looks pretty interesting!

Mine came with that "Automax" pinpointer (I think that's what it's called) It's about 2 feet long! I didn't even take it out of the box. I'd be curious to hear the skinny on the new Fisher probe.

It runs off a 9V battery that fits in the back end. The cap that covers the battery snaps on with 2 inside clip arms made of plastic like the cap. My cap would not stay on with the battery inserted, it keeps popping off and looks like it would be real easy to loose. I reckon I'll run a round of black electric tape around it to keep from losing it. From what I saw it is adjustable power for dept at the power on knob. I can't say alot about it as I havn't tried it in the field yet but I would have been disappointed if I would have bought it instead of it being a freebie, it could have been better designed to keep the cap on I think, or then again maybe I got a defective one. I'll let y'all know more when I actually use it in the field.

If it just start to crosstalk all you do is adjust the frequency a a bit and it will stay quiet.

You can also mount the uniprobe on the machine with the use of a stereo splitter. Velcro it to the side of the battery box, and plug both the machine and the probe into your headphones. Turn it on and off as needed.

Since the F-75 is made to accept both DD and concentric coils, and enough units are selling, it probably will not be too long before there is a SunRay inline available for it.
