Pinpointers and the T2

As we probably all know a pinpointer is pretty much a must have item with this machine given the way it picks up those small hard to see items.

Anyone found any pinpointer that make it go haywire, or has used pinpointers that work fine with it? I'd like to know which if any to avoid basically with the T2.

I bought the Falcon MD-10 in '94, mainly for prospecting, but it works great in any pinpointing duty. It will run "forever" on just cheap carbon zinc batteries, I believe the two 9v's in there now are from early last year, maybe even from 2004. I leave it on all during my hunts, clipped on my pants pocket and separate wand tucked in my back pocket. I've never had an interference problem between it and any of my detectors. On the negative side, it's very spendy. I paid over $150 for mine. Last year, a coil wire broke inside the head, but it's only hot glue, so I was able to fix it myself. They stopped making it, but I believe it's available again.

In both air and field tests, I've proven the T2 is as sensitive to tiny items as the Falcon, down to a half-grain gold flake. It was actually a challenge finding a tiny bit of iron with the Falcon that the T2 had located. Once properly located with the T2, the target was right under the coil's center mark.

I use a Detector Pro Pocket Probe with all my detectors that don't have a Sunray probe available. There is a fair amount of interference between the two, but placing the detector coil away from the hole and tuning the probe to a minimal interfering frequency pretty much eliminates any problems.

I have a Periscope Probe but have not had a chance to try it while using the T2. I will let you know how I make out when I give the both of them a spin together.

I use a homemade Pi probe using a HH Pi circuit board, Been using this hip mounted probe the past three years. It does experience a little interference with some detectors but as long as I keep the detector coil away from the Pi circuit board the interference is greatly reduced.

It'll detect a coin at 5'' inches especially lower conductors but it operates at 15uS so the tiny signals will not be detected, But the advantage is it'll zero in on those deeper signals far off to the side of the hole when other probes will not detect as deep.
