I was thinking about just carrying around my etract in a backpack but modified to be just the control box and probe haha.

Excellent choice but with the heat down here in TN. that is real extra weight. I have'nt given up my E-Trac YET. Thanks for the photo. HH :minelab:

I am keeping my Etrac also but I will miss my X-1 probe. I really don't know how I got along without it. I am waiting to see the new pinpointer that Minelab is coming out with before I buy one for the CTX3030. If it is a good as their detectors, it will be good.

 I miss my x-1 too!!!

I'm with you guys. Sun-Ray probes make retrieving targets so much easier. I use a Garrett pro-pointer until the ML probe comes out. It should be a nicun. HH :minelab:

I called Minelab last friday to get the tracking number on my CTX and I inquired about a pinpointer I saw on the web. He said that the picture on the web was true and it should be out in a couple of months. He said the pinpointer had gotten sidetracked for a while. I guess the CTX coming out and updates and such put it on the back burner.

I have brought my Etrac just for the pinpointer-no kidding

My detector is my ears, my Garrette propointer is my eyes. I never leave home without it. But I can't imagine using just a detector as a pin pointer too. Seems like a lot of work and waste of time and the accuracy is just not there no matter what detector you have. Recently I found an old pocket watch. Some of the tiny gears were missing. I figured they had to be in the same hole. My detector beeped but the gears were tiny and assumed the color of the dirt. I found 3 of the gears by putting handfuls of dirt in my hand and using the pin pointer to find them. The hands were missing as well, but I didn't find them.

Cousin Jim now looking much more cool, sporting a Pocket Uniprobe.....wildherre
