Sorry if this topic has been covered alot. I am thinking of upgrading my harbor freight pinpointer and was looking closely at the propointer and the pistol probe. Anyone have any favorites or opinions?

Thx all!!

Yep!
Pistol probe is to big, the grip is to slopped, to many controls.

The pro-pointer is really a nice tool,
Its a good size,
its well designed (I do wish it had a simple battery state of charge indicator)
it works well.

So happy with the Pro Pointer I ended up with two!

Garrett's Pro Pointer is a good choice.

Garrett Pro Pointer without a doubt. Some wish that the noise feature could be turned off. Most people just place a thumb over the speaker or tape it over. I like the light feature since I detect at night during the year.

Garrett Propointer is, for the most part indestructible. I clean it with a wire brush or under the faucet with my thumb over the speaker holes. It doesn't use much battery juice so the battery lasts a long time. I can hear it thru the headphones and it vibrates, plus a light. Well designed I'd say.

Pro- Pointer for land detecting
Vibra-Probe for water hunting or very wet environments.

Another vote for the Pro Pointer. Whatever else good or bad, the Pistol Probe does NOT have a vibration signal which the Pro Pointer does. I put tape over the speaker hole so that the sound is less noticable or obnoxious when detecting parks etc. and I wear headphones that shield external noise quite well so the vibration feature is very important to me. My two cents.

Pistol Probe is deep(performance king) but the ergonomics and hard to hear even with the volume maxed are too big of negatives for me.The Garrett Pro pin pointer is great easy to holster best feel worth the asking price. The Cen Tech isn't too bad for $16.95 but will stop working with temp changes or ground conditions, annoying at least in the middle of a search when your pin pointer takes a dump.My Cen Tech used for a backup I drilled a pot port to make internal adjustments in the field to re tune back into life for use.The push button switch died on mine and replaced it with a toggle switch. The Cen Tech is better than no pin pointer at all but not much, not in the same league even as a Bullseye ll.My favorite is the In-line Sunray S-1 probe.I tried a MD 10 for coin hunting(older MD 20 version) too bulky and not for coin hunting adjustment could be made by sliding probe ring and not reaching to make knob adjustments.Save time and money get the Garrett Pro Pin pointer.Good Luck Ron

Garrett Pro Pinpointer. 2 Thumbs Up.:thumbup: Worth every penny. Hope Santa brings you one... CCH

Pistol probe is weak can not undertake torque for the probe fragile
and it is not Constant tone over the targets

but it is good look and for fun is OK
