I was told by a tech on the phone from White's that the pinpointer will not work in Prospecting Mode. The video by Jimmy Normandi says nothing about this. Does anyone else have a problem with this too? I would like to know as I would have thought that the video would have mentioned this,,,,,jim

If you are talking about the pinpoint mode, no it doesn't work in prospecting mode. All that squeezing the trigger does is turn off the ground tracking.
No two nuggets are the same size so any attempts to apply depth indications would be fundamentally flawed. By turning off the ground tracking it allows you to make as many passes over the nugget without the tracking system seeing it as ground. Rob

I use Prospecting Mode almost exclusively now, and with the little 5" Excelerator DD pinpointing is not a problem. However, even with a 14" coil I find that I can pinpoint quite well by carefully "X-ing" the target. A hand-held pinpointer helps a lot, too.

Marc,

The DX-1 pinpinter will not pick up small nuggets....at least with NV gold. That is OK because with the loss of the extra weight, it makes for easier prospecting.....jim
