Pinpointer Worthwhile?

A

Guest
Hi,
I just bought an MXT. I plan on using it mainly for nugget hunting, with occasional casual coin hunting on beaches and at campgrounds - especially by the kids.
Is a pinpointer a good idea? A luxury or necessity?
What kind is preferred?
Thanks

pinpointer is not just worthwhile its a must have tool. get the whites bullseye its awesome ansd small.

Loren, Go to the forem for sunday august 8th. which is on about page 3 of this forem and read the comments on the Bullyseys pinpointer. They are good and work well but may need a slight adjustment. Good Luck

Loren,
I haven't done any nugget hunting so I can't speak in that regards, but for coin shooting it is extremly valuable. I normally go out at sunrise and the pin pointer helps out a lot in those dark holes, specially when many of the coins I find are stained the same color as the ground.
For beach hunting you don't really need it. The sand scoop is the tool of choice. HH.

Loren,
Your MXT with the right coil can detect a nugget as small as a match head. I have tested all of the pin-pointers and the only two that I have found to detect a nugget that small is the Falcon and the Treasure Mate. It would be frustrating to detect a nugget with your MXT, and not be able to find it with your pin pointer.
Good luck.
