pinpointer to match the compadre?

Hi,
just got my first compadre with 8" coil and took it out to a playground this morning.
Its ridiculous how sensitive this thing is! My garret pro pointer 2 actually had a lot of trouble keeping up with it, and some of the smaller pieces of foil it wouldn't see even when put right into its "face".
So what pin pointer are you using that could match the compadre?
I've looked around and some people claim White's TRX Bullseye is actually more sensitive - any luck with them?

i don't even use a pinpointer. on a 4-5 hour hunt it may save you, what, 2 minutes? my holes are just as neat when i'm done. tesoro detectors pinpoint very well. i don't see the need to have to use a small detector to help find what the big one did. an another waste of money thing to carry around and feed batteries to is my opinion on pinpointers and they don't even make you look any more of a professional. you dont need a bunch of gear hanging off of you to be good at metal detecting. lol. spend the money on something else. haha

walnut, it looks like they are not being made/sold anymore

jld66, I am not that good yet, and finding tiny match-head-size pieces of metal/foil in wooden chips is not easy. it took me like 5 minutes to locate one of those, another one couldn't be seen with the naked eye, had to put the handful of chips with the target into a zip lock for extraction at home.

Yeah, in cases like that (compadre with grain of sand sized metal in wood chips) there is no way to do it fast except maybe a pin pointer. I think there was a decent looking treasuremate on craigslist for 50 or 60 $ if it is still there. Don't remember the city.

maybe you are a bit too serious. match head sized metal/foil, grain of sand size, or can't be seen with a naked eye is not worth bothering with. you can plainly see a small gold earring or something like that. just putting wood chips in a baggie and taking them home? seems a bit much to me. i have never ever used a pin pointer. so it's not a matter of being good. haha. but hey, if your having fun, that's what count's. good luck to ya.

Actually, I have been using a Harbor Freight "Centech" pinpointer. It is $14.4 with the 20% off coupon and it works pretty well. I put a new switch on it cause the ones that come with them crap out quick. Otherwise, durable and useful. They seem susceptible to heating up, so some have soldered a thermistor into the circuit board which makes the sensitivity stable. Lots of other mods have been done on them, including adjusting the sens pot of course, adding a vibrating cell phone motor, making the signal variable depending on distance from target, etc.

I agree, those barely visible bits of metal are not worth chasing, but with the compadre you don't always realize you have wasted your time until it is too late, they are that crazy sensitive.

Lets put it this way don't care what model you use but if I left my pinpointer at home would be lost as once you learn to use one sure saves times and energy.

Tesoro's sure pinpoint well but a good pinpointer is a valuable hunting tool to increase efficiency.....

Nokta hands down is the best IMO. Others mileage may vary on such a subjective topic. But I have been rather impressed by this pointer.
