Hello trying to get into the hobby after an unsuccessful attempt 7 or so years ago. Still have my pinpointer pro and if i press the tip into any dirt or mud firmly it beebs slowly as long as the pressure is applied, I dont remember it doing this but its been a long time, is it time for a new one or is it something i can fix. It only happens with about 10 pounds of pressure on the tip, soon as i let release it stops. Needless to say my first couple of holes were very confusing until i figured out what was happening lol.

Garrett? If so, they have had that problem mainly with the original Pro-pointer.. I had sent me back to them to be repaired but came back the same way and when I called them about it they told me that it was now out of warranty..

YW.. sorry you having problems.. mmany do some don't..

I also have the original Pinpointer Pro, and it does the same thing. Push down fairly hard with it, in the hole or on the surface, and it beeps slowly. Back off on the pressure, and it's quiet again.

I have not found this to be a problem at all. Normally I don't have to push down very hard -- just dig another inch of dirt out of the hole, and all is well.

I don't find it necessary to get a new one. It works well, and has found many good things over the years.

Hoping it's helpful information.

Cheers,

Joe

I have had 3 of the black ones and all of them would beep with the slightest pressure on dirt. Then sometimes it would go off and would not stop beeping even out of the hole, only way to shut it up would be to turn it off.

Heres a youtube video about the problem and how to fix it. Be very carful though once I got the circuit board out and insulated the wires causing the problem I couldnt get it back in. After 30 attempts or so one of the wires snapped from bending back and fourth. Could re sauter it if I knew how but ended up getting the garret propointer AT insdead.
