Pinpointer for Nuggets?

Hey everyone. I am looking to get a new pinpointer (old one is laying next to a hole somewhere in the last area I hunted). I just had the El cheapo that came with my gold bug pro. I am wondering if there are any pinpointers out there that anyone knows of that are sensitive enough to be effective for nugget shooting? I spend about half my metal detector time relic hunting and half (trying to) nugget shooting so I'm going to get one either way. I have been looking at the two obvious choices, garrett propointer, and whites trx bullseye. Can't decide. Is there another option I should consider? What are y'alls opinions. Thanx in advance!

I have the pro pointer. It will pick up small gold but only very close. I have had my pro pointer for a year and its starting to false and chatter all the time. . I am going to send the PP back for a checkup. You might try the Makro pointer its water proof so its next on my list. I dont know about the TRX but it also looks good.

There's the Treasure mate pinpointer at 16.5 kHz is sensitive to find small gold, and the detector pro pistol probe is Pulse Induction and has been used to find small gold.

I like my pistol pro - it finds stuff down to just above fly poop and doesn't freak out and start beeping at everything like my Whites TRX does. A pity it's such an unhandy shape.

Hey Rick... it sounds like you're not ground balancing your TRX. When I hit a target with my main detector, I whip out the TRX and put the tip on the ground next to the target and turn it on. Once it's balanced then I poke around in the dirt until I hit the target. Works perfect! I rarely get any falsing or chatter except in the very hottest and trashiest of ground.

Pistol pro from whom please as flypoop causes me to go nutz in a drought with no water for a sluicebox to run dirt.John

Thanx much for info as age makes demands that we must all give into, and after 54+ years of detecting this is yet another as never needed prior-o well sure beats a dirtnap-John:detecting:

What convinced me on using a pinpointer for sniping bedrock and panned material were a couple videos I saw on youtube. I did an experiment with my TRX and took a 2 grain piece of lead shot and headed down to my local river bottom that is very heavily mineralized. I scooped up some highly magnetic sand and gravel into my pan, threw the 2 grain piece of lead shot in there and mixed it up. I then proceeded to dry pan off the lighter stuff and concentrate it down. I then took my TRX and started stirring around the pan. Within a couple seconds I found the 2 grain piece of lead. That right there convinced me that a TRX pinpointer is a viable tool to have in my prospecting and sniping arsenal.
