pinpoint sizing mode on 705

I have been using my new 705 for a couple weeks (until the blizzard hit here in Oklahoma on Christmas eve). I really like the detector but am having a little trouble understanding difference between pinpoint auto mode and pinpoint sizing mode. I have been best results using pinpoint by detuning the poinpoint mode (double pushing the detect/pinpoint button over the target). Anyone out there that can offer any advise on how you best use pinpoint mode?

Dan

When I had a 705 I used the reg. PP mode, but would switch over to the Prospecting mode to size and PP....

Are you getting cabin fever yet ???

My goodness yes! Yesterday was the first day above freezing since Christmas. I went outside to see if the ground had thawed any. Nope, it was still hard as a rock. Maybe next week.
I will try pinpointing in prospect mode, thanks.

Hi Dan,

On the original X70 there was Automatic de-tuning Pinpoint only. So many of us would use Prospecting mode as a more "manual" way to size & shape the target. With the X705 the Sizing Pinpoint mode was added which is a manually de-tunable VCO Pinpoint. And yes you can de-tune it and start a new reference point of signal strength by double pushing the Pinpoint Button over the target. This allows more control than Prospecting mode, especially with closely spaced targets. In wide open spaces(few targets) the Automatic mode is fine, actually faster, but for trash hunting the Sizing is the ticket.

Thanks Bill. Most of my hunts are in trashy areas. Your reply reinforces basically what I have been doing so that really helps.
