Pinpoint Question?

A

Guest
Used my explorer first time a few days ago.
Perhaps I am missing it in the manual, but is there a separate volume/sensitivity adjustment in pinpoint? Mine is way too low. Finally gave up using it, and located by tones, but not very exact.
I guess a vco type pinpoint is not possible?
Thanks

You are using the headphones right? There is no seperate adjustment but a higher gain might increase it a bit. On the very deep targets the pinpoint can be somewhat faint or broken. On the ones of extreme depth you might not even get a sound. Also, the pinpoint only hits a very small area so if your not close to the object you may be missing it completeley.

Yea - with headphones, probably 30% of my deeper targets would not give a peep in pinpoint. Tried upping the gain also.
Locating in discr. mode wasn't too bad and I was right on the targets when I dug. Just seems kinda crazy on a microproccessor control detector not to have a seperate volume or sensitivity control for pinpoint mode.
Question- what mode does the X1 probe operate? I guess a switch changes it over from the loop, do you also then switch to pinpoint?

Hi Rich, yes a switch changes it from the loop to the X1 Then you can change from smart mode to pinpoint etc just by using the buttons on your detector. You can use it just like you use your regular coil. You can even use it in the learn mode to teach targets to the detector. Get one!!! You'll never regret it. HH-Coinshooter65.
