Pinpoint Question

what causes the pinpoint mode to get noisy and when you change back to detect it goes normal, Ive found that it seems to get unstable, not that theres a prob, any suggestion from the fellow XS users

I had the same problem in one area that I detected last weekend, once I moved away from that spot, 20ft. or so it was fine...
don't know what it was all about, couldn't pin point at all over target, detector couldn't see it, may have been a large pease of iron blocking it...

The pinpoint funtion detunes after a several seconds. If you leave it on for to long it becomes unstable. Turn it off and back on and it will stablize. If not it may be underground electrical interference. I some times find an area where the machine goes crazy only to take a few more steps and its fine again.

I'm no expert. I have had my XS only a month. But--I thought that was Minelab's way of saying, "Hey, you are still in pinpoint mode. Turn it off."
Down in this country the soil is so mineralized, I can't even lay the machine down to dig if it is in pinpoint. If I do, I have to drop the digging to take it out of pinpoint. Otherwise, my hears pay the price! <><

Thanks for the answer, seems like its a common thing. It seems that whenya in pinpoint it detunes and gets erratic until you turn it off and on again. Yep when ya lay the XS on the ground in pinpoint it gets erratic
