pinpoint on id excel

Well I have been using the excel for about 12 hrs. now and i'am begining to get a good feel for what it is trying to tell me,I really like the 4 tones and it has pretty good depth in discriminate mode about the same as all metal. The only weakness that stands out so far is that targets on the fringe of detection in disc. the ones that are whisper hits and not solid beeps and hit +36 cannot be pinpointed because the pinpoint mode does not have gain to give you a signal.I've duplicated this in a test garden with a silver dime buried at 9" I get the faint hit in disc.but nothing in pinpoint and it's much harder to pinpoint with such a faint signal as it loses the defined beep used to x the target,do you guys think that fisher could increase gain with the pinpoint at the factory would they do this kind of mod. Thanks, Frank

I don't think so....Unfortunately it is what it is. A mid-priced machine that still does great in the trash & has respectable depth. The Coinstrike has a little more power & would hit that easy (but it should for twice the price I guess:). HH, Bill

Thanks Bill, for the responce I'am really quite happy with the discriminate depth it has just as much as many other detectors I have used but the pinpoint should be able to match or surpass the disc. mode and being an all metal signal I think it easily could be made to do so.Maybe i'll drop Fisher a line and let them know so further down the line maybe the improvement can be made on later production runs you never know.Frank Barco

It can't hurt. The Excel has been their best seller lately, so who knows maybe there could be an Excel II or something down the road? <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">
