Pinpoint function sticking

Canewrap

While I was out clad hunting with my XT-70 for the first time today I noticed that the pinpoint was getting stuck. It would do the full circle to indicate the center and then stay there as I moved the machine all around the area. It would take a little shake and then it would start working right again. Could this be some kind of loose connection in the box? Also, the rubber liner on the armrest started coming unglued, but I can fix that myself. Is rubber cement enough for this, or should I use epoxy?

Yep, every time I wanted to start detecting again I repushed the button. The problem was it would go on point and then I would try to use it to get an idea of the size of the target and it would stick and look like the target was impossibly huge. If I shook it a little it would snap out of it and start working correctly again with a reduced pinpoint as you went away away from the target and would get louder and more intense as you moved in, as its supposed to work. I suspect something is wrong in the control box, as if it was the coil it should have other problems detecting (or so I would assume).

It sounds like a fault Canewrap. I'd give Minelab or your dealer a call and see if you can get it sorted out.
Mick Evans.
