Pinpoint failure

Having an issue, in pro and standard mode ATP works great BUT the pinpoint button puts the detector in PP mode but it won't pick up anything no matter how close to the coil a coin maybe. Has anyone had this issue? I never use the button to pinpoint however don't want my ATP to have an issue.

Make sure that you are not detuning the target with pinpoint mode. When you push the pinpoint button you can not be over the target. You need to be off to the side. Push the pinpoint button then sweep back over the target. The AT Pro detunes very easy. If you still don't get a hit then you have a problem with the unit.

I'll give that a try, but I don't think that is the issue. I noticed the problem on the beach and verified it with air tests. Could the issue be the coil?

I also had the same trouble. I tried everything to help. Finally called Garret and sent it in. They replaced the coil. Brad said they did some electronic tuning, don't know what kind of tuning or know if I'd understand it anyway. I have only used the detector for half an hour since, AT is waterproof but I'm not. The pinpointing seems to be right on. Before I sent it in I would try to pinpoint and hear nothing. I could see the screen and knew there was an indication but no noise from the unit. The angle of the screen was not right for me to constantly look at it to pinpoint with. I relied on the tone to pinpoint. All seems good so far. I need to put more time in but feel things are correct now. As a side note, I changed the angle of the screen by loosening the screws under the unit and placing a small washer under the front part of the detector. This kept the front of the detector from resting on the rod just a little. The angle is better now and allows me to see the screen without lifting the detector to see the screen.

Thanks for the tips, going to a state park in Oaklahoma to do some hunting next weekend, then sending it in for a tuneup. Other than the pinpoint it seems to work fine. Found some clad and a wheatie at 6 inches today and two silver rings yesterday so not complaining.
