pinpionting F4?

pulltab

Member
are any of you getting bad depth on pinpoing your F4 with the standerd round coil?
if I take my XLT and PP at 1 inch my F4 reads 3"
I had a pulltab on the surface and the F4 read 2" I couldn't get it to hit 0"
Jus wondering if it's the machine or the coil or both?

thankx for the help

Just curious, but did you manual GB the machine before using the PP ? The reason I ask is it uses AM mode when PP'ing, which is manual GB, maybe it's off unless it's balanced?

I use the 8" & 10" coils as their so easy to pinpoint with compared to the DD, but they seem to work fine with depth (I can hit 0" on a surface target).
i thought you could nly ground balance in all metal mode?
You're right, but pinpoint uses all metal mode...so if the GB is off, the PP can be off. I played around with it on mine, and it definitely affected the PP accuracy...it's worth a shot.

much better with the round coil now. Still having trouble with the 11" double D the 8 round I think I have it figured out, but the DD I'm sometimes off by alot I would like to use the double D for Comp hunts to cover more ground but don't trust it enough to take it to the compition.
the hunt is in two weeks so I thank I'll take the 8 and the XLT

Are you able to detune the F4 like you can with the Ace and the MXT? I assume you can as most detectors allow this.
