Pin Pointing feature on the Spectra V3

I'm new at detecting, so, forgive my lack of knowledge. While I'm in pinpoint mode on my V3, I frequently get a double dash - where the depth indicator should be, and my bars (blue red green) are solid squares. Is this a malfunction or is the V3 analyzing until it finds the Target?

Hold the coil 6 inch off the ground and see if it happens.
It may have been an overload.

Hi there, and welcome to the hobby.

The double dash you see flashing up whilst you are pinpointing, is not a 'fault' or problem.

It is a transitory happening as the target is in an 'Off centered' position under the search head.

Also you may notice the fact that it happens when the target is VERY close.
