pin pointing audio cutting out

Hi lately I have been having the audio sound break up or cut out while hovering above the target in pin point mode, has anyone had this happen or heard of this and knows what causes this?

thanks

lifting coil up, even 1" can cause this if you lift while pinpointing

Ah ok looking back I was lifting the coil thanks I've never had this happen before thanks again

This has been happening to me a lot. I sent the machine to Minelab, but they couldn't duplicate the problem. I have never heard about "lifting the coil" as the problem. I will take notice the next time I'm out.

I actually heard about this from another poster, but have not been able to say for certain. Guys, please post back here when you get to test this out. Want to make sure we're giving out good advice :) Thanks Guys!

I will be checking it out today to see if it does it again watching to make sure I don't lift the coil. it was weird when I went to pin point and move the coil to the loudest point and hold it for a few seconds the sound would break up or cut out completely and I would have to try it again.

thanks

well I was unable to get it to do it today hopefully this was just a fluke so we will see next time out.

Mine did this today a few times. Never had this happen before.
I think it has to do with the headphone jack connection on the wireless module.
While it was doing it, I rotated the jack back and forth in the socket and ith cleared right up, and never came back.
I may lightly coat my phone jack plug with some dielectric grease. Just enough to lightly coat, and then wipe back off.
Should leave a light film to keep contacts from getting sketchy in the future.

My audio got intermittent earlier this year but not just on pinpointing. I had a broken wire in the headphone plug, put on a new plug and problem solved.

interesting I will have to check these out next hunt hopefully this coming week

Had this happen twice today. I found I had two bottle caps and iron in same hole with quarter both times.

I kind of thought maybe because there was so much iron in those areas that maybe that was the cause, It's been raining constantly here in Colorado and other things going on I've been too busy to get out and try it again LOL soon though
thanks guys

went out and hunted several different parks and did not have this problem again so I'm assuming I was lifting the coil while pin pointing that caused this to happen, I have been watching closely as to what I am doing and being more careful while pin pointing thanks everybody for your help at least I know it was operator error LOL. :detecting:
haven't found that elusive deep silver coin yet  but I know it finds silver and gold rings, :clapping: I am still learning this great machine and my finds are getting better and better especially with trash and iron near I am pulling more targets out where there is other things mixed into the hole. yesterday I got a dime out of a hole that was directly under a large nail all my other machines would have nulled out but with this machine using combined ferrous coin it picks them out once again thanks everybody and happy hunting.:usaflag:

THANK YOU!!! I'll shortly know if this is it! I was having this same intermittent issue and it was driving me nuts. I run with Pinpoint in the Sizing mode and do not normally lift my coil when pinpointing. Tried a couple factory resets, which "seemed" to make it better (as well as adjusting audio settings, I was also fiddling with the headphones which probably was the actual fix). , but then it would come back an hour or 2 later. Some days it was okay, other days worse. Last time it happened, I decided to eliminated the WM-10 and plugged the headphones directly into the CTX and the instantly the problem disappeared. Was thinking it was an issue with the wireless module itself and now your post has me thinking it's the headphone connection.. I'll bet you I have tarnished connections from hunting during light showers, even though I'd have the module under my jacket, it probably had moisture wick down the headphone cable........
