Pin Pointers

Hi Folks Just new to this forum . But have been detecting for more years than I care to remember . My wife swings an Ace 250 and I a GTI 2500 . We are thinking of adding a Sun Ray GI-1 pin pointer to the 2500, Anyone out there running one ? and are they worth the money?
Thanks Pyrites Pete

Yeah I'm field testing one for the 250 and they are well worth it. They are basically just a tiny detector and will pick up coins at three inches plus. I hunt a lot of bark chip play areas and the Sunray is invaluable in locating coins in the chips, especially when they have turned the same color as the chips.

I picked up a SAC dollar yesterday buried about a foot down in the chips and it was the same color and almost impossible to see but the Sunray nailed it.

Thanks Bill Thats what I was hoping to hear.
Now I just have to wait for sunray to make another batch for the Garretts Cheers Pyrites Pete

I have one on my GTI 2500 and it saves me a lot of getting up and down to recheck a pinpoint. It is actually a tiny coil instead of a probe and it works just as your regular coil does except it will go down in a hole. Using it on pinpoint mode or an all metal mode it routinely picks up a target at between 3 and 4". Like the 4 1/2" stinger coil it is not an imaging coil and the depth and size won't be correct, just the location of the target. It does not affect battery life because when it is activated it is working in lieu of your regular coil in the pinpoint mode. Pricey but probably worth it if you have trouble pinpointing or locating a target in the hole. JIM
