Pin pointer

I modified my Harbor freight pin pointer so I could choose between the stock beeper and an Led by adding a switch. But, I've found I seldom used the light, even though it sounded like a cool deal at the time. More, I find a dead or questionable battery sometimes when I arrive at a detecting site. So, the best cure I could come up with was to remove the light function and use the switch in series with the battery + . I believe all my junk was engaging the "push to operate" switch, while in my "Lets go detecting case". Yea, I could of just not kept it in the case with everything else, but I figured I'd get to my detecting site minus the pin pointer most of the time.
Unusual find yesterday........a .30 carbine cartridge without the primer! Obviously, the bullet was still in the casing......just no primer. Go figure.

Inspired by your modification, I also have the same pin pointer, but I installed a vibrating
motor and a toggle switch to select between vibrate and stock buzzer. Same switch
also replaced the push and hold power button switch. Works great!

Wire to switch broke on mine.
With it opened I noticed one trimmer potentiometer.
Once wire was back on the switch, I couldn't resist playing with the trimmer.
Not sure what the trimmer really adjusts.
After trial and error, instead of getting just about an inch on most things with a new battery in it, I now get 1.5 inches on a nickle and 1.25 inches on a quarter, dime or penny.

I surely hate to be a party pooper on this subject, cause I really feel bad about so highly recommending these units, and they really do work really well...........but, lately I've started leaving my pin-pointer behind and just loosening the soil up with my "pick", then waving my target soil over my 220-D coil, with a plastic hand shovel. After all it found it in the first place. Consider this, you won't be fooled by a different target sound if you're using the same detector. Most pin-pointers are all-metals. It would be so easy to let the pin-pointer lull you into thinking that piece of iron was the target. Not only that, now your treasure pouch has more room. Maybe you could take along some sausage links and a Egg and Bacon sandwich. Really worth thinking about. Works for me :wiggle:

That trimmer on the pinpointer can only be one of 2 things...My guess is it is a sensitivity trimmer, but it may also be a ground balancing adjustment (I doubt this though)...
