Pin pointer operation

New member
I am a newbe,but I have read alot
I have a pinpointer and it will only buzz when it touches the metal item is this normal? or am i not adjusting it properly?

You should be able to adjust its sensitivity. To do so, keep the probe away from any metal and turn the adjusting knob to make it respond then the other way to make it stop. You want to adjust it so that it is on the verge of buzzing. So as it is buzzing, back off the adjustment knob until it just stops.

Thanks Mark,
but what I meant was no matter how i adjust the pin pointer the only way it beeps/buzzes if t actually touches the coin/metal. if that is how it is supposed to operate it is kind of silly unless i was blind

Is it a Bounty Hunter pin-pointer?
If so, it should start buzzing about an inch from any metal...If it does not, it is set wrong internally...There are 2 adjustable resitors inside..you want to teak the one that is lying flat on the board, not the one standing up behind the pot...Unless you are familliar with electronics, it is best to have someone who is adjust it for you...

HH,

See my other post titled "Bounty Hunter Pinpointer" for an inside view of the pin pointer...
