Pin Point Mode Not Reading Deep

I have a v3i, it can trigger on deeper items sometimes, saying it's 9-10-11" deep while swinging, but only in one direction only, never both. Then, when I try to pinpoint, I get no reading at all. Is there a setting to make so it reads deeper in pinpoint mode? If the search mode thinks it's there, shouldn't the pinpoint mode be even stronger? Thanks, martin

I had that happen to me.

If memory serves me correctly, I had a bad ground balance.

I was getting a good solid high VDI and when I would pinpoint it was dead silent when going across the target area. I found a clean patch of ground, re-ground balanced and went over the spot again.

Turned out to be trash in the area, alot of trash, which is probably the reason I had a bad ground balance.

Good Luck

I agree with DJH that it is most likely a bad ground balance, or you are in an area with a lot of "hot rocks" which can sometimes be tricky.

My guess is there are no good target there. However, instead of us guessing why not dig them and give us the results.
