PIECE OF LEAD FROM CS WINTER CAMP

Can anyone identify this lead relic as to what happen to it. Relic was found at cs confederate winter camp. Any advice would be appreciated.
 
Lead was used to bite down on for amputations... Lots of indents on that but size is difficult from photo..

They didn't worry that back then... They even used lead utensils, cups, cans, pipes, lead paint, etc. Most battlefield casulties were due to flying lead poisoning... Came wit the job.. The expression bite the bullet came from that time...
