Pictures of the old Motor Court I'm Hunting

A local magazine featured some old pictures of "The Sunset Court". This is the place I have been detecting on and off for the past several weeks. It was built in the 1930's, not in the 50's as I had thought.. It's now in pretty bad shape. Tons of trash in the ground. I have found a couple of Rosie dimes, one merc and some wheat pennies from the 40's and 50's so far. Lots of clad and zinc pennies. I'm looking forward to the 10.5" 7.5khz DD coil I ordered arriving next week. I've been using the 6" DD 18.75khz coil and my older finds have been down at least 6 inches. I'm hoping the larger DD coil will get down deeper. I'm sure there are still many good coins to be found. I have not covered the entire area yet. It's one of the older places still standing where I live and I'm really pleased that I got permission to search it. If I find anything worth a post, I'll put the items up for all to see. The piece in the magazine talked of the history of the place. It almost got put on the national register of historic places, buy sadly didn't make it. The place reminds me of the motor court that was in the movie Pearl Harbor. It must have been quite a jewel in it's day. It still has the above ground pool made of large rocks and plaster. Each little cottage was built different inside. They are darn small by todays standards. Wish me luck.

Good hunting, John K

Looks like only one photo made it, the others were too large. I'll take some pictures as it is now and post them. The photo only shows the a couple of the cottages. It has a gas station and store in the front.

Looks promising John I'm pullin for Ya!! Lets see some of those finds when you get em as I'm sure you will. Grant
