Picture time... Minnesota seated quarter and franklin half found with Rick(ND)

Hey Everybody,
I'm getting caught up in my posting. Haven't had a camera for a few months but then again haven't been doing much detecting until recently because of dry conditions. These two coins were found on a trip up to Minnesota late June/early July. Found the 1877 CC quarter by a friend's lake cabin. This is the same area that I've found a few indians (not posted) in incredible shape. The ground is generally very sandy and that seems to leave the coins shallow and corrosion free. A couple of the indians even had a shine left on them. Big change from the clay soil around here that often leaves coins corroded beyond recognition.
Met up with Rick from North Dakota for a hot and windy afternoon of detecting. None of us found much of anything old but I did score the franklin half. Met Rick's friend James that is vacuuming up all the silver in that part of the country. Rick, did he pass the 300 mark? As always good to meet someone from the forums and hope to repeat the experience next year sometime.
Chris

Chris,
Nice to see that seated quarter again, it it one coin I havent been able to find in my 32 years of detecting, came close 3 times, but no cigar. My friend Tim got one not more than 2 feet where I had to quit for the day and called him and told him where I was at. James got 2 more that should have been mine, first one was at a place we were working and I one of the guys called me over to check one of his signals and didnt go back where I was working, James did the next day and seen where I had quit and too not more than 2 feet away was a seated quarter. The second one was at a old county school I found when I got lost looking for a differnt site and I told James about it and told him to try it, got another seated quarter there too.
James is at 281 silver for the year, with 9 of them halfs and over 50 barber dimes for the year, I think he is over his limit for the year, dont you think so Chris?? He has to put some back, so we can find them.
I hope we can hunt together again some day Chris as it was a lot of fun.
Rick

Nice job Chris, you sure know how to find those seateds. For some reason, they elude me, but I'm getting closer (I can feel it). I have yet to find a Franklin or a Seated, but find lots of barbers and did get a bust half dime once. Got a walking half last week also. I know what you mean about the quality of sandy soil finds - I hunt the Minneapolis area and upper michigan quite a bit and the coins are in good shape from those areas.
