Hey Everybody,
I'm getting caught up in my posting. Haven't had a camera for a few months but then again haven't been doing much detecting until recently because of dry conditions. These two coins were found on a trip up to Minnesota late June/early July. Found the 1877 CC quarter by a friend's lake cabin. This is the same area that I've found a few indians (not posted) in incredible shape. The ground is generally very sandy and that seems to leave the coins shallow and corrosion free. A couple of the indians even had a shine left on them. Big change from the clay soil around here that often leaves coins corroded beyond recognition.
Met up with Rick from North Dakota for a hot and windy afternoon of detecting. None of us found much of anything old but I did score the franklin half. Met Rick's friend James that is vacuuming up all the silver in that part of the country. Rick, did he pass the 300 mark? As always good to meet someone from the forums and hope to repeat the experience next year sometime.
Chris
