So, as promised here is a pic of the penny, front side only as I am still shaking from my oldest coin find ever! This after about 1 hour with the Compadre. I wish I had picked one of these along time ago.............

Just picked this one up. 8" coil on it as my usual hunting areas do not have much in the way of metal posts, etc. I cannot believe how "fast" this machine is. Once I would find a target and begin to pinpoint it, I could slow down my swing to the point that I would almost have a continuous tone over the object. If this had been my first detector instead of my fourth one I would probably not gotten another. If all Tesoro's are anything like this then I am sold and will probably "retire" my others.

Very Very nice, I found one just like it a while back same year as a matter of fact 1864, mine had a little more patina on it though. It's a sweet day when we find an old one there far and few in between now days.

Happy Hunting,:detecting:

thats exeptional what a nice find

what a great find! I would flip out if I found that coin!

well done!

Very nice coin. What kind of area did you find it in? How deep? I love how giddy you are over your find. The Compadre will bring many more similar feelings, it is a great tool.

Found the penny in my own yard (house is over 100 years old). It was around 4 inches deep, right on the edge of a "paver patio" we had put in about 12 years ago (before I got a metal detector). Now I'm starting to wonder what might be under the darn thing. I doubt the wife will let me tear it up just to detect it. Oh well, I guess it will have to remain a mystery.

They are. Retire them and try another Tesoro.
