The button is my first and boy is it a dandy too. Then a brass piece that I believe to be a friction primer but it is solid on one end and then has string/rope coming from the other end. When I was cleaning it I thougt it was full of mud but it turned out to be black powder and the string. Any ideas? Then the brass piece that has patent 1846 on it was found about 3 feet from some dropped minies on top of a rocky ridge about 15 feet wide and straight down a cliff. I have no ideas what it is, any ideas or suggestion I would love to hear them

Looks like part of a suspender buckle. I have dug several with patented dates stamped on them just like that?
