picking a place to search

Hello,I'm fairly new to the hobby and am curious how to go about picking the best sites to search. I've done quite a bit of research on the history here and never have much luck when I go digging

I have found very little sometimes after the hard work of research. Other times I'll find gold in a tot lot. Luck still has a lot to do with it. Just be persistent.

You want to hunt any place that people have gathered over the years. maybe for sports, fireworks, picnics; parks, ballfields, nature/hiking trails. etc.

[size=large]regardless of how small your town is there's more mders than you think hunting out there. i just started in may of 2010 and only spotted one hunter walking along the hwy on his way to my nearby park. for months i saw no one. since then theve've slowly come out of the woodworks. i now know of at least 21 others in my small town. i've also come across one guy from across the state who was visiting here and went out for a hunt. so no telling why your not finding things. might be you don't know your machines language enough. the more you hunt the better you'll get. i hunted one spot i thought kids would be hanging out above a athletic field. sure enough i found my second gold ring. the treasure is where the treasure is. some ryme and alot of no reason. just enjoy the hobby and don't make it a job. you ain't finding sunken ships treasure but sometimes it's gotta be the same feeling as if you are.

Can I suggest you get your hands on a couple of books to read. I have been hunting for 20 years, and every now and then, I still read a chapter or two which helps stimulate the brain to pick out some more decent sites. It reality, there are more sites where you live to hunt then you could in a life time. :)
