Picked up the SST

With relic season fast approaching it will be interesting to see how fast it can recover in colonial iron patches. These conditions mimick UK detecting.

Stay tuned.

Keep us posted Geo,

Picked one up myself from a good friend who's a dealer here in California, Like it allot has it's positives and a few gray areas, But overall a nice detector for the price.

HH, Paul (Ca)

Will do Paul. Hope your doing well old friend. George

quite well in most iron infested sites.

The SST is nothing more, or less, than an M^ that has had a couple of features removed. It still uses the main MXT circuit board, and it is preset to search in an All Metal Accept Discriminate mode (the same as the MXT, M6 and MXT Pro with the variable Disc. set at the minimum setting).

Most folks seem to associate "Relic Season" with "Relic Hunting," and figure that ALL "Relic Hunters" dwell in the SE of the US or midway up the east coast. Well, I am a Relic Hunter, and have been since I hunted my first ghost town in May or '69. Ghost towns, homesteads, pioneer encampments and those used by the military, plus so many other rural locations "Out West", can keep any avid Relic Hunter busy, and that especially means keeping busy dealing with the sometimes highly abundant Iron Nails

I live in Eastern Oregon, now, and I feel I am well equipped with some of the better detector/coil combinations for dealing with discarded Iron, whether sporadic or in a more closely-spaced environment. My #1 all-purpose detector is the MXT Pro that I keep a 6

Nice hearing from you Monte. I missed a meter machine so the SST will do. George

Fun machine it handles bad soil and emi very well and is not too shabby on small gold as well.
Just got a 6x8 sef for it waiting for me when I get back from this job . I hear they are great on a MXT so it should be good.

Congrats on the new machine!
Jim

Thanks Jim.

HELLO.....I THINK THE SST IS JUST A REWORKED MXT.....WHITES ,LIKE ALL DETECTOR COMPANYS ARE WORKING TO COME UP WITH FRESH IDEAS AND NEW MODELS...WITHOUT SPENDING ANY MONEY IN THE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPEMENT AREA....THINK OF A METAL DETECTOR AS A DIGITAL CAMERA...THE CAMERA PEOPLE COULD GIVE YOU A 100 MEGAPIXEL CAMERA RIGHT NOW,BUT THEY WONT...THEY INCREASE THE PIXEL RATING BY 1 OR 2 OVER LONG PERIODS OF TIME, SO THEY CAN VACUUM THE POCKETS OF ANYONE WHO WANTS A CAMERA....ITS SAD THAT YOU CANNOT BUY A PRODUCT THAT IS THE BEST IT CAN BE BECAUSE OF THE MONEY TO BE MADE OVER THE LONG RUN... WITH METAL DETECTORS, MOST TIMES THE ONLY CHANGE IN THE MODELS IS THE DECAL ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE HOUSING...I HAD A GARRETT MASTER HUNTER 7 AND A 10 AND HAD THEM BOTH APART SEVERAL TIMES AND THERE WAS NO DIFFERENCE WHAT SO EVER....REMEMBER A FEW YEARS AGO WHEN WHITES AND GARRETT HAD TO PAY MILLIONS OF DOLLARS TO MINELAB FOR SOME OF THEIR TECNOLOGY SO THEY COULD REMAIN IN BUSINESS...THIS IS BECAUSE THEY SAT ON THEIR HANDS AND KEPT SELLING TE SAME OLD DETECTORS IN A DIFFERENT BOX FOR 20 YEARS OR MORE...THERE ARE ONLY 2 TYPES OF METAL I CAN THINK OF,,,FEROUS AND NON FERROUS....THE PERFECT DETECTOR SHOULD ONLY HAVE ONE KNOB,,AN ON AND OFF SWITCTH.... THERE SHOULD BE ONBOARD.M ICRO PROCCESSORS THAT CONTROLL EVERYTHING,WITH ONLY ONE SOUND AND NO SCREEN,,,WHEN IT HITS A TARGET, YOU DIG. IT UP.....WHO CARES IF YOU FIND IRON,,ARE YOU GOING TO LEAVE ''BILY THE KIDS'' SIX GUN BEHIND JUST TO FIND THAT SILVER QUARTER????
