Picked up an older Amigo II

Sven

Well-known member
I am impressed with this little bugger.
I can crank up the disc to zinc disc out all the junk and still accept silver, and our $1 and $2 coins at a decent air depth test. Going to make a great cherry picker.
Bought it as a back up for my wife or as a loaner. Think I'll like it too.

I have one my self I just haven't used it, thanks for posting pic.

Hi Sven,Hank,I have to say that Tesoro may have tangled up the names for some of their detectors, but They were right on when they named the Amigo II. It is a great "sidekick" and friend for sure. Anytime you are having a dry spell while walking with "any" of the big boys and need to "liven" your site up, just reach for your little Buddy, and he will not dissapoint you. With him out front things start happening and you wonder if you have been sleeping or maybe not paying attention, because you know you just walked the same ground and all those signals were not there before??? Yeah, right, that's the Amigo II at work and it will end your dry spell. HH, Charlie

Hey Charlie, your right it's a dandy machine to use, it's the perfect name for this machine and in the tot lots it does it thing, I just haven't used it in along time so I will use it this weekend, HH, hank

If your interested in parting with yours....:spin:

Looks like a great little machine Sven, congrats! Your description of it's disc capability is intriguing...

Kinda reminds me of a sovereign shaft in a way, extremely light weight.

love mine Sven. if you punch a hole at the VLF words, under that spot is the sensitivity pot screw. you can crank it up a notch. put a rubber plug in the hole. mine is a bit chattier but i know the signals. i have the arm cuff . my amigo it stays in my car / office when its hot. my little friend has found sooo much good stuff. i cherry picked a trashed lot before and watched a guy throw his spectrum in his trunk, THROW IT, and leave out of frustration. we used it to detect bottle and trash dumps from turn of century for small items, and found silver coins. another mod is a coil cable connector i read on one of the forums, to change to the same khz coils. i would like a coil even smaller for it. battery life great, mine also had the tone turned to a high pitch nice. you can tell i like mine i guess. i thought you might clam shell it for the water unit, Steve keeps telling me to do mine. MONTE says its ED180, a Compadre of old. housing design. and i have found gold with mine. it loves mercs too.

My teenage grandson has gone metal detecting with me a couple of times, using a loaner Whites Classic ll machine from my collection. He is catching on fast and seems to really enjoy the hobby. As an economical coin and jewelry machine for his first detector, I've been thinking about an Amigo ll, or previously-owned current model Compadre and have a couple of questions, as follows:

#1...What would an Amigo ll with the Speed Handle, all in excellent condition, sell for these days ?

#2...What would a previously-owned current model Compadre, in excellent condition, sell for these days ?

#3...Which one of the above-mentioned machines would get the positive nod, as the best detector for finding coins and jewelry at depths up to 6" or so ?

I am prepared to supplement some of the cost if needed, as a gift to my grandson.

Thanks for your help and opinions.

Todd
