Picked up an MXT Thursday

Hi everyone,
I've been a member for a while but not a big poster. I picked up a used MXT this last Thursday( Merry Christmas to me). I owned one back when they first came out, but foolishly parted with it. I put in 2.5 hours between rainstorms yesterday and today with a haul of $2.00, 2 cheap pieces of jewelry and a key. My next purchase will be the MXT Edge book followed by a 5.3 and 6x10 coil. Thanks for all of the expertise and tips.
Todd

Big congats to you Todd. Maybe this time you will learn the MXT's value in the world of metal detecting. It's a great tool and we're here for you. We wish you all the luck and Larry happens to have the MXT Edge by Jeff Foster book. I think you will be very happy with the 5.3" coil also. Good choice! We're here to help in any way. HH, Nancy

Nancy should have mentioned that we are a White's dealer and have "The Edge" in stock and for sale, $25 shipped in the lower 48.

I guess Larry said it all. Larry uses the V-3 machine. The book is a plus for any MXT user.

Hey, Is that my dog behind those Foster Grants?:bouncy:

HH,
Nancy

The MXT is a great machine, you'll love it.
And "The Edge" is a must.

5.3 Eclipse coil before you get the book. Although a very good book, you'll get more 'use' out of the 5.3 Eclipse coil in all of the western Washington County parks and schools that are sure to be hit hard this year. :)

I'm off to hit some renovation work this morning, however, as I want to try and get a start on my silver count for the year.

Monte (in Hillsboro) w/5.3 Eclipse and 5.3 BullsEye coils mounted and ready-to-go!

Hi Monte,
Yes I have a feeling the playgrounds and parks are going to get hit hard. I hit 2 schools for a total of 1.5 hours early this morning. Total take was 95 cents and a nice silver crucifix. I followed in someones tracks at one school. They must have been cherry picking the coin signals only. I found at least 2 dozen signals in the 6-24 VDI range. That's okay with me, I will dig those targets for the possible gold. The best fruit is not always the easiest to pick. Larry I will be in touch for the book.

Rainstorms in Beaverton? Never happened! That is liquid sunshine.:bouncy: Had a Horse Ranch in Coos Bay for 15 years.......

Ames,
I was born and raised in Coos Bay. Graduated from Marshfield High. My wife and I moved to Beaverton in 89. Where abouts was your ranch? I am headed down there this Friday.

silver. :( I went the other way from here and worked Cornelius and Forest Grove a bit.

During a small break in the weather before Christmas I got out and noted that they had been fairly well worked after school was out for the holiday break. I'd guess that with a couple of dry but cloudy days this weekend more people got out, especially those with a new detector (Christmas). Many of the entry-level models rely on segmented discrimination (Bounty Hunters, Fishers, Garrett's, White's Prizm's) and I think that's why so many gold items get overlooked. They rely on the 'lock-on' TIDs, mainly higher coins.

Good luck on your trip to the coast. Might be dry this weekend. I'm waiting for some snow melt and things to dry a wee bit and warm a little to go work some of the old logging towns.

Monte,
Whenever I see that someone has beaten me to an area I change strategies. I try and pit my skills against theirs and see what may have been missed. If all I find is a penny resting next to a steel bar on a piece of playground equipment, I am feeling pretty good. Its going to be a fast trip down, but I am hoping the weather cooperates so I can do a little detecting.
Take Care
Todd

The MXT is an awesome detector, I'd like to have a V3 but until someone out hunts me badly I'll stick with the MXT. I have only hunted with 1 person with a V3 and I had him check a deep target I suspected was a wheat cent and he said nah don't dig it, it's junk. I dug it and it was a wheat. When I bought my MXT I asked Al (dealer) if he thought the DFX would be the one to buy and he said personally he thought the MXT would be my best choice even though the money wasn't a big factor, now that's one honest man but I've know him a long time too.

Took out the MXT for the first time in the front yard... lots of iron and hot rocks. Finally locked on a dime, but the ground was frozen so solid I couldn't dig LOL
Oh well, hurry Spring!

The MXT Edge is a great book. I have an extra copy that I am willing to sell
for $20 drop me a pm if interested.

Good for you Tyrolus! We're looking at minus temps for the next few evenings. Maybe we might be thawed out by April. It's sad when you can't even hit a playground full of wood-chips. HH and ice picking.........Nancy

Sumner...about 20 miles SE of Coos Bay. I raised Arabs and miss those days. I also owned 2 RE offices in Coos Bay. One was South Coast Realty and the other was United National. Property taxes got too high to continue living in OR and I now live in MI....jim
