Picked up an F4 on ebay and I like it!!

I have been using an F5 for about 4 months and have found over 200 coins. I found a nice F4 on ebay with the 11" DD coil and an 8" coil. I took it out tonight using the 11" DD coil to one of the same places where I hunted with the F5 and in 45 minutes found 5 quarters, 10 copper pennies, 1 dime and 2 zinc pennies. The dime was the deepest at 6" and a solid 70 id. Do you think the DD coil makes that much difference? If so I can't wait to get the 11" DD coil for the F5.

I think the F4 is an under rated machine in the right hands, it has features not available on the F5 and F70 (like static non-motion AM mode, and three more coils out of the gate then the F5 has after being out for over a year!).

Your sure to find good things with it if you stick to it.

I appreciate the encouragement. Six months ago when I started looking at getting into this hobby I visited all the forums and it was this forum that helped me make up my mind. I am so glad, it is a great hobby. Thanks Randy.

The F4 also does a far better job at TID then the F5, so you may be digging more because the machine is more accurate, the F5 can be a deeper machine though, and it gives more info on it's nicely laid out screen (mineralization, GB, etc).

It'll be interesting to see how the big DD coil does on the F5 if Fisher ever releases it :veryangry:

This morning I was out with the F4 and the DD coil and had been digging several good targets. I came across a target that sounded good and was getting a 70 TID in all directions but one. So I got the F5 out before digging to see what it said about the target. The TID was bouncing around and the sound was not the clear pop I usually get on coins with the F5. Dug the target and it was a dime on edge about 4" and the dime had some tar one side. I was surprised the F4 did a better job on the TID than the F5. Cal Cobra, thanks for the input I had no idea the F4 would TID better than the F5. I am like you, I really want the DD coil for the F5, I called Fisher and they said the 11" and the small DD coil would be out on the 11th of this month. We'll see.

iskirkra I'm glad you did the comparison on that target between the F4 and F5, it definitely proves my point and experience with the two. Don't get me wrong, I do like the F5, but find it can be frustrating with it's bouncy TID (I dig a lot more trash with the F5, but at the same time I've probably dug a few keepers I wouldn't normally have dug just because it makes me dig more

I suspect the F5 11" DD will be more accurate, we'll see.
